Illustrations on the below two pages from Ryan’s "Scientific Checkers Made Easy" have similarity to the position at Note I that occurred in the Holmes-Beckwith game played in the 2007 GAYP Nationals. The penciled "doodles" in my copy of Ryan’s "SCME" were made by my friend and neighbor; Glenn Romine (deceased) during the late 1930’s or early 1940’s. Glenn became quite a good checker player when he began studying "book". He gave me the copy of "SCME", from which the below pages were extracted, along with other checker books before he died.
