My reviews for 2009 will be games from the 1983 "FOURTH INTERNATIONAL CHECKER MATCH" Book dated July 1983. The games were held at the International Checker Hall of Fame, located in Petal, Mississippi.

Mr. Charles Walker, Director, International Checker Hall of Fame, at the request of Mr. Don Lafferty, presented me a copy of the above book (front cover pictured below) during our attendance at the Mississippi State Tournament at the end of May 1998. Don and I had become good friends after our acquaintance during the "King-Morrison" World Championship Match held at the ICHF in November 1996. Don was the referee of that match - Presented below is a picture of Don Lafferty (right) and me taken by Jim Morrison during that match. Don and I later travelled together to attend the 1998 Mississippi Tournament that was held at the ICHF also. The checker world was saddened to learn of Don's death shortly thereafter on Sunday, June 7, 1998.
